Origins of Halloween


Halloween being one of our favorite holidays, we figured we would find out how Halloween came to be.  Upon doing a little research on the holiday itself we came across the following article.  Hope you find this as interesting as we did. ~ Enjoy!

Halloween has always been a holiday filled with mystery, magic and superstition. The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. Halloween, the night prior to the new year, began as a Celtic end-of-summer festival and the harvest, and the beginning of the dark, cold winter. Its origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced “sah-win”), when it was believed that the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred as the spirits of the dead returned to earth….
